2 Charged With Teaneck Vehicle Break-Ins, 3rd Suspect Remains At Large: Police

BREAKING: Vanessa Gallego and Kyshan Hawkins were both charged with 16 counts of burglary, police said.

TEANECK, N.J. — Two people were arrested and charged with burglary after police investigated break-ins to 16 vehicles Oct. 18, authorities said.

A laptop, iPod, and wallet with cash and credit cards had been taken from some of the vehicles, said Teaneck Police Chief Robert A. Carney. The vehicles were located on Schley Place, Julia Street, Stasia Street, Carlton Terrace, Columbus Drive, Red Road, Beaumont Avenue, Bogert Street, and Pinewood Place.

One of the victims reported that sometime overnight, a stolen credit card was used at 7-11 stores in Hackensack and Lodi. Detectives obtained video surveillance of three suspects, Carney said, and images were taken of them and given to local police departments.

An officer with the Rochelle Park Police Department identified the three people as Vanessa Gallego and Kyshan Hawkins, both 21, and both of Englewood, and Robert Harris, 38, of Hackensack, from a motor vehicle stop there on Oct. 17, Carney said.

Detectives Gabriel Santiago and Michael Sunga found Vanessa Gallego and Kyshan Hawkins near Gallego's Englewood home, Carney said. They were both charged with 16 counts of burglary and four counts of theft.

Teaneck Municipal Court Judge James E. Young Jr. and set bail at $7,500. They both posted bail, Carney said. They are due in Central Judicial Processing Court Nov. 9.

Police are looking for Harris and issued a warrant for his arrest. Police ask anyone with information regarding his whereabouts should call Teaneck Police at 201-837-2600. Callers wishing to remain anonymous can call Crimestoppers at 201-833-4222; $1,000 will be rewarded for information leading to his arrest.
