2 Homes Burn In Hackensack, 6 Injured: Fire Department

HACKENSACK, NJ — Six people sustained minor injuries Tuesday night after a residential fire in Hackensack that spread to two homes.

Firefighters arrived in the first block of Franklin Street after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to find "heavy fire" in two wood-frame homes. The fire was in both floors of the homes and extended into the attics, the fire department said.

The fire was under control after an hour. Six people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

A dog was rescued from the blaze, and returned to its owner.

Companies from Englewood, Bogota, Teaneck, and Ridgefield Park assisted the Hackensack Fire Department. Ambulances from Hackensack University Medical Center, Little Ferry and Holy Name also responded.

Hackensack Fire Prevention is investigating how the blaze began.
