A 9mm handgun with a high-capacity magazine and a black ski mask were found inside the vehicle, police said.
TEANECK, N.J. — Four people were charged after police found a loaded handgun during a traffic stop in the township Nov. 20, authorities said.
Officer Jason Hosey stopped a 2010 silver Toyota Camry going the wrong way on Sterling Place, a one-way street between Prince Street and Red Road, shortly after 2:30 p.m., said Chief Robert A. Carney.
Hosey smelled burnt marijuana coming from inside the car while speaking with the driver, Ashley Gilead, 19, of Teaneck, Carney said.

All the occupants were removed from the car while police searched it. While doing so, Hosey found a black and silver Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun with a high-capacity magazine loaded with seven rounds of ammunition, the chief said. Hosey also found a black ski mask behind the driver's seat, police said.
Gilead and the three occupants: Altariq Fuguan Gumbs, 19, of Newark, Jonathan Hagley, 18, of Teaneck, and Ramadhan Abdul Muhammad, 20, of Teaneck, were all charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of a large-capacity magazine, police said. Gumbs, Hagley, and Muhammad were also charged with certain persons not to have weapons.

Gumbs was also charged with providing false information to police; Gilead was issued summonses for driving the wrong way on a one-way street and failure to signal, Carney said.
Teaneck Municipal Court Judge James E. Young Jr. set Gilead's bail at $2,500, with a 10 percent option, which she posted, pending an appearance at Bergen County Central Municipal Court.
Young set bail for each of the other persons charged at $15,000 with no 10 percent option, Carney said. None were able to post bail and they were all turned over to the Bergen County Sheriff's Department.
