RECYCLING - WHAT??? Our regular recycling day was yesterday!! Our brilliant yellow can of bottles and cans were picked up early in the morning. At 6:39 PM, all the papers, cardboard, mixed papers still sat in front of our homes on Sunderland Rd and I'm sure on other streets in our collection area.
When we first moved to Teaneck, we had regular bulk collections. That went away. Then we were "blessed" with recycling on a monthly basis. And now it's every two weeks. The recycling depot on River Road is a horror show. Sometimes you separate things, other times all the trucks are filled and you throw everything in together.
What do we do? Do we leave all that stuff in the street?

In Florida (also a large town), recycling is put out once a week. One truck, one man. The container is much like they have in Hackensack, picked up and dumped by a mechanical arm.
Here? A truck goes around and around and around. No sense. A total waste of tax payer money. And our paper goods still sit there. There is no one to call at this hour and the "office" is closed on Fridays!

Do we not pay enough taxes to cover this simple procedure? If it were contracted out, it would probably be lot less expensive in the long run. I understand that it is a vacation period of the year. How many part time summer employees is the DPW paying to screw this up and what happens when all the part-timers are gone. It can only get worse.
This is not good service.
