Roberto Quinones, 43, was charged with robbery, burglary, and attempted burglary.

TEANECK, N.J. — A Paterson man was charged with burglary, robbery, and attempted burglary after he allegedly broke into the Church of Saint Anastasia last July and left blood at the scene, a forensic analysis showed, police said.
Police responded to the Church of Saint Anastasia on Teaneck Road shortly before 10 p.m. July 5 about a burglary in progress; a man inside the church struck a priest in the chest and then ran from the building, said Chief Robert A. Carney.
Blood believed to be from the man was found on an outside door, Carney said, and more than $10,000 in damage was done to the inside of the building. Nine officers were broken into, authorities said.

Another burglar alarm during an attempted burglary went off at The Community School on West Forest Avenue at 10:04 p.m., the chief said. Teaneck and Bergenfield police found an open window.

An attempted burglary also occurred at a small church owned by the Church of Saint Anastasia at 1130 Teaneck Road shortly after 3 p.m. July 7, police said. Officers responded to the church on a criminal mischief report.
Police believed the same person was involved in all four incidents, the chief said.
Teaneck police were notified in late April that the blood belonged to Roberto Quinones, Carney said.
Teaneck detectives interviewed Quinones at the Passaic County Jail, where he is being held on unrelated charges, police said.
Detectives interviewed Quinones and charged him with three counts of criminal mischief, two counts of burglary, robbery, attempted burglary, and possession of burglary tools, Carney said.
Teaneck Municipal Court Judge James E. Young set Quinones bail at $15,000 with no 10 percent cash option, police said. A detainer was placed on Quinones. He is due in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court May 11.
