Drunk Teaneck Man Asked For Whiskey Before Breath Test: Police

Akyildiz Samet, 30, demanded whiskey at police headquarters after crashing his vehicle into a tree early Saturday morning, authorities said.

TEANECK, NJ — A township man charged with DWI demanded a drink of whiskey before he would take a breath test at police headquarters, authorities said.

Police responded to the 900 block of Maple Avenue at 3:19 a.m. Saturday after Akyildiz Samet had crashed his vehicle into a tree while driving intoxicated, said Glen Rock Police Chief Dean Ackermann.

Samet, 30, "became belligerent" at police headquarters and demanded a drink of whiskey before he would properly complete breath tests, Ackermann said.

No sober adult was found to come and care for Samet and he was so intoxicated that an ambulance took him to New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus to detoxification.

Samet was also charged with refusal to submit to a breath test, driving without a license, and careless driving. Samet also had a warrant out for his arrest in East Brunswick.
