Elderly Teaneck Driver, 86, Struck Woman Crossing The Street: Police
Myrna Gillespie, 86, was driving a red BMW 328 when she struck Maria Catano, 61, police said.

TEANECK, N.J. — An elderly Teaneck woman struck a woman crossing the street in Bergenfield Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Bergenfield police received several 911 calls that a pedestrian was struck at the intersection of South Washington Avenue and New Bridge Road, said Capt. Mustafa Rabboh.
Police investigated and learned that Myrna Gillespie, 86, was driving a red BMW 328 when she struck Maria Catano, 61, of Bergenfield, Rabboh said.

Catano was walking in the crosswalk on South Washington Avenue when Gillespie struck her, the captain said. Gillespie was trying to turn left onto South Washington Avenue from New Bridge Road, Rabboh said.
Catano suffered a hip injury and was transported to Holy Name Medical Center, the captain said. Gillespie was issued a summons for failure to stop for a pedestrian.
