Federal Safety Agency Investigating Fatal Teaneck Roof Fall

Clifford M. Lemay died after falling 7 stories from the top of the Glenpointe office complex Tuesday, police said.

TEANECK, N.J. – The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the death of a 57-year-old man who died Tuesday after he fell seven stories off the top of the Glenpointe office complex.

Leni Uddyback-Fortson, a spokeswoman with the U.S. Department of Labor said that, by law, OSHA has six months to complete the investigation and release its findings.

Clifford M. Lemay’s body was found lying on the ground in a grassy courtyard at 500 Frank W. Burr Boulevard just after 7 a.m., police said.

Authorities said they were working to determine if high winds caused Lemay, 57, to fall off the roof.

Police said Lemay’s death appears to be a “horrific accident.” Police told The Record they were reviewing video footage of Lemay around the time of his death.

Emergency responders determined Lemay died from injuries sustained from falling off the roof, said police Chief Robert Carney.
