Firefighter Injured In Hackensack Apartment Blaze

HACKENSACK, NJ — A firefighter went to the hospital with a hand injury during an apartment fire in Hackensack over the weekend, officials said.

A fire in the 100 block of State Street broke out shortly after 7:30 p.m. Sunday, the Hackensack Fire Department said. Firefighters noticed smoke on the second and third floors.

The fire was under control after about half an hour, the HFD said. Firefighters had to open up the ceilings on the third floor and roof to knock down the fire.

Teaneck, Englewood, Bogota, Ridgefield Park , Teaneck EMS and Hackensack University Medical Center BLS also helped.

Hackensack Fire Prevention is investigating.
