Holy Name Medical Center Earns a Five-Star Rating from CMS
Holy Name is one of only a few hospitals in New Jersey, and the state's only independent hospital, to receive this top designation

Holy Name Medical Center is pleased to announce it has earned a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the highest rating offered in the 2026 Overall Hospital Star Quality Rating system. Of the 3,203 hospitals evaluated by CMS, only 12% achieved five stars, representing 385 hospitals nationwide. Holy Name is one of only a few hospitals in New Jersey, and the state’s only independent hospital, to receive this top designation.
The Overall Star Ratings enable Medicare patients to easily compare the quality of hospitals and services, empowering them to make informed decisions about their health care.
“Earning a five-star rating underscores our dedication to delivering safe, timely and high-quality care,” said Vasantha Kondamudi, MD, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Holy Name. “I congratulate our physicians, nurses and staff who bring compassion and excellence to the patients and families we serve.”

The Overall Star Ratings include hospitals that provide exceptional performance across five areas: mortality, safety, readmission, patient experience, and timely and effective care. Consistent with other CMS star rating programs, the methodology assigns each hospital between one and five stars, reflecting the hospital’s overall performance on publicly reported quality measures.
CMS began the star ratings in 2006 to improve quality and transparency in health care. The 2026 Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating can be viewed on CMS Care Compare.
