MILOT, HAITI — Holy Name Health CEO Michael Maron shared a glimmer of good news from Haiti, reporting that Holy Name Medical Center's Haitian sister hospital was undamaged in the 7.2 magnitude earthquake which has killed more than 1,400 people.

Now, Hôpital Sacré Coeur is faced with the daunting challenge of offering aid to "critical patients from those areas of the country most severely impacted," Maron said.

CNN reports that the earthquake killed at least 1,419 people as of Tuesday morning, and a tropical storm system moving over the country isn't helping.

In addition to the dead, at least 6,900 people were injured, with both numbers likely to rise as search efforts continue.

That's where Hôpital Sacré Coeur will be needed.

According to the Haiti Health Promise of Holy Name, the hospital with connections to Bergen County is the largest private hospital in the North of Haiti, with 200 hospital beds located in their Milto, Haiti, location.

Now, the hospital must adjust to helping what will likely be much more than 200 people as Haiti reels from another natural disaster.

"In the coming weeks and months of recovery, our prayers and efforts will be with our brothers and sisters at Hôpital Sacré Coeur and those throughout Haiti struggling to rebuild from this disaster," Maron said.

The hospital foundation is also raising donations to support their sister site.
