ICA Kids Online Celebrates International Chess Day!

For over 20 years, International Chess Academy (ICA), has been serving the NY metropolitan chess community by offering classes led by highly trained and elite coaches while hosting tournaments and camps for motivated and competitive students.

At ICA we are always advocating for new students, both young and old, and this year we fully embraced FIDE's International Chess Day motto: ”Teach someone how to play chess”, by offering ‘free virtual private chess lessons to new to chess people’!

Since 1966 the Chess world has lauded July 20th as World Chess Day to mark the date of the establishment of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) in Paris in 1924. This year, more than ever, we follow the U.N. and the International Chess Federations’ call” to celebrate one of the most ancient and most popular games in history that promotes fairness, equality, mutual respect and understanding among nations.”

At ICA we celebrated our Chess community this weekend (Saturday, July 18) by hosting a Celebratory Virtual Quads tournament with a $1 entry fee for 64 players, with a $60 payout for 1st in each of the 16 sections! Congratulations to all our players and our winners and their commitment to the game!

ICA is here (for now virtually) to serve the needs of Chess players of all ages and levels. Our staff of GM’s and highly trained coaches like GM Alex Stripunsky, WGM Tatiana Grabuzova, GM Artur Jussupow, and NM Chris Welcome round out a cadre of enterprising and passionate coaches. In addition to hosting tournaments, ICA is a leader in private lessons, small classes, and individualized camps when not teaching in-school classes with our education partners.
