Man Dies After Being Hit By A Dump Truck In Teaneck Park: Police

A man in his 70s has died in a "tragic accident" when a dump truck he was working on rolled backward and hit him, police say.

TEANECK, NJ — A man in his 70s was killed in a "tragic accident" when he was struck by a dump truck in Teaneck's Brett Park, police say.

A call came in around 10 a.m. to report that a person had been struck by a "sanitation type vehicle," but when first responders arrived at the park, the man had already died.

According to the department the man, who has not yet been identified, was unloading the truck when it rolled backwards, striking him, police say.

An investigation is still ongoing, but officials don't suspect foul play.

The Bergen County Sheriff's Office and Prosecutor's Office are assisting Teaneck Police in the investigation.
