NJ Mother Who Lost Husband, 4 Kids In Crash Speaks: Report

Mary Rose Ballocanag survived the horrific crash that took the lives of her husband and four daughters.

TEANECK, NJ — “Auntie, I’m alone.”

Those were among the first words Mary Rose Ballocanag reportedly spoke, according to The New York Post, once she realized she was the lone survivor of the horrific crash that claimed the lives of her husband and four daughters.

Ballocanag, who was speaking to her aunt when she made those remarks, was sleeping in the front seat when the crash occurred as the family traveled home from a vacation in Ocean City, Maryland, the Post reported. She remains hospitalized in Delaware with multiple broken bones.

"She knows they are all gone, but she is under heavy sedation, so it's not sinking in yet," Daniel Trinidad, brother of father Audi Maniquis Trinidad, told the Post, who noted he was not sure if Ballocanag will be able to stay at the family's Teaneck house "without her husband and kids."

The police have released the name of the truck's driver, Alvin S. Hubbard Jr., 44, who was treated for minor injuries sustained in the crash. Police did not say what exactly may have caused Hubbard to veer into the other lanes of traffic. Authorities are still investigating the crash.

More than $182,000 has been donated to help Ballocanag and to transport the remains from Delaware. Funeral arrangements for each of the victims have not yet been finalized, said Linda Douglas, a family friend who created the GoFundMe page where the money is being donated.
