NYC Man Charged After Attempted Teaneck Robbery: Police

The New York man also faces weapons possession charges after a failed robbery attempt at Mis Raices restaurant, Teaneck Police said.

TEANECK, NJ — A New York City man is charged with attempted robbery after he pulled a gun at Mis Raices restaurant Saturday, Teaneck Police said.

Officers responded to a 911 call reporting a man with a gun in the area of Teaneck Road and Fairview Avenue.

After arriving at Mis Raices, police were informed that a man, later identified as Christopher Estades, entered the restaurant and brandished a gun "in an attempt to rob the restaurant," police said.

The owner of the restaurant and an employee were able to wrestle the handgun away from Estades, who then fled the scene, police said. No injuries were reported.

Officers located Estades several blocks away from the restaurant, where he was arrested, police said.

Estades was hit with two weapons possession charges in addition to attempted robbery. He was served a complaint-warrant and taken to Bergen County Jail, where he awaits his first appearance in Superior Court.
