Oradell Man, 25, Struck And Killed On Route 80 In Lodi: Police

The man was killed after trying to cross lanes of traffic on Route 80, police said. The investigation is ongoing.

LODI, NJ — A 25-year-old Oradell man was killed Thursday night after being struck by a car while trying to cross lanes of traffic on Route 80 in Lodi, State Police officials said.

The crash occurred at 9:14 p.m. on the eastbound portion of the highway, authorities said.

State police said Edward Shindnes exited a Jeep that was stopped in the right shoulder of the highway's express lanes, before crossing into lanes of traffic where he was struck and killed.

The driver of the second vehicle stopped, and is cooperating with the investigation, which is ongoing, State Police said.

Two lanes of I-80 were closed for about two hours after the accident, but have since reopened.
