Steps Being Taken To Fix Incorrect Mail-In Ballots In Teaneck
Teaneck Manager Dean B. Kazinci said Wednesday that all affected voters will receive a brand new ballot by the end of the week.
TEANECK, NJ — After nearly 7,000 Teaneck voters recently received wrong mail-in ballots, Township Manager Dean B. Kazinci said steps are being taken to quickly fix the problem.
Due to a programming error by an outside vendor, Bergen County officials said some Teaneck voters were recently sent ballots with incorrect candidates for the House of Representatives for the Nov. 3 General Election.
"We anticipate, by weeks end, that all affected voters will receive a brand new ballot with the corrected congressional district," Kazinci said in a letter to Teaneck residents.

Bergen County said it has identified which Teaneck voters were impacted and have already started the process of reprinting all supplies needed to re-send ballots to those voters as soon as possible.
Teaneck voters are advised to monitor their mailbox for the new ballot, which will be marked with the words "CORRECT BALLOT" on both the outer envelope and the return envelope. The ballots themselves have also been re-printed to say "Correct." Voters are asked to complete and return the correct ballot, even if they have already cast the previously issued ballot.

"The board of elections has been made aware and already has procedures in place for replacing the old ballot with the correct ballot for the impacted voters who may already cast their vote," Kazinci said. "My office will be putting out a reverse telephone call only to Teaneck voters who received an incorrect ballot.
Teaneck voters are encouraged to use the secure voter ballot drop box located in front of the main entrance to the municipal building, which is located at 818 Teaneck Rd.
Teaneck has 28,000 voters and is split into two congressional districts, the 5th and 9th.
