TEANECK, NJ — The police department will put an extra emphasis on catching drunk or impaired drivers later this summer. The department is participating in the national Driver Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.

The campaign, which runs Aug. 19 through Sept. 5, is designed to curtail impaired driving during the busy summer travel season, including Labor Day weekend. It is funded by the U.S. Division of Highway Traffic Safety.

In 2013, alcohol-impaired fatalities accounted for 27 percent of New Jersey's motor vehicle fatalities, according to police.
