Teaneck International Film Festival - Live and Virtual

The 16th annual Teaneck International Film Festival will be held November 11 - 21, with the first four days – Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon and evening - LIVE at Teaneck Cinemas on Cedar Lane, and the remaining seven days virtual, via Ovee, with talkbacks on Zoom. Tickets are on sale now for individual live and virtual films, with an option for a week-long pass for all the virtual films. The usual gala will not be held this year, but the TIFF road to normal will begin Thursday, November 11, 7:30 p.m., at Teaneck Cinemas, 503 Cedar Lane, when the National Coalition of 100 Black Women Inc., Bergen/Passaic Chapter presents the documentary Ailey. Opening night tickets are $10 in advance (find the link on the website) and $12 at the theater on the night of the performance if there are any remaining.

Alvin Ailey was a trailblazing pioneer who found salvation through dance. Ailey traces the full contours of this brilliant and enigmatic man whose search for the truth in movement resulted in enduring choreography that centers on the Black American experience with grace, strength, and unparalleled beauty. Told through Ailey’s own words and featuring evocative archival footage and interviews with those who knew him intimately, the director weaves together a resonant biography of an elusive visionary. Don’t miss this portrait of the man, and a look at the memorable dances he created. Stay for the talkback that will include the film’s director, Jamila Wignot.
