Teaneck Man Arrested On Gun And Drug Charges: Prosecutor

TEANECK, N.J. - A township man was arrested on drug possession and firearm charges after he was caught with marijuana and a gun during an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and several municipal police departments, authorities said.

Dwight Horne Jr., 30, was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, a disorderly persons offense, said Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal.

Horne was with his cousin, Dorian Johnson, in Englewood, when he was arrested Thursday, Grewal said.

Johnson was being investigated after he allegedly distributed suspected marijuana to a detective from the prosecutor’s office Narcotic Task Force twice, the prosecutor said.

Authorities searched Johnson’s Englewood home and found a 9-mm semi-automatic handgun with a loaded magazine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia used to distribute controlled dangerous substances, and more than $2,700 in cash, Grewal said.

Johnson was charged with two counts of a distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, namely marijuana, possessing a firearm during the commission of a crime, distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, namely marijuana, within a school zone, possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, and being a certain person not to possess a firearm. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail on $100,000 bail with no 10 percent option.
