Teaneck Man Charged With Murder In Amman Park Shooting

TEANECK, NJ — Maximillian Reyes was shot and killed in Amman Park in June. On Wednesday, his alleged killer was charged with murder.

Jairrod Shannon, 20, of Teaneck was arrested on Wednesday on charges of murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, aggravated assault, and hindering apprehension, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said.

The charges stem from the afternoon of the June 5 shooting, when Teaneck police responded to Amman Park to find the 20-year-old Reyes with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, but later died from his wounds.

An investigation by the Prosecutor's Office and Teaneck police found that Shannon was the shooter.

After his Wednesday arrest, Shannon was taken to the Passaic County Jail, where he awaits a first appearance in court.

It was originally reported that Reyes was from Englewood, but prosecutors now say he was a Teaneck resident.
