Teaneck Officials Say Thanksgiving Gatherings Should Be Limited

The Health Department released guidance for the township, saying gatherings should be limited to immediate family or small number of others.

TEANECK, NJ — Thanksgiving gatherings should be limited to immediate family in the township amid a surge in coronavirus cases, except for a few close friends and family members, the Teaneck Health Department announced Wednesday.

According to the department, limiting gathering size will play a role in making sure your Thanksgiving table doesn't turn into a coronavirus hot zone.

"Take as many health actions as possible: wear a mask, engage in social distancing, wash your hands, stay home if you’re ill, avoid anyone who is sick, and avoid touching your eyes/nose/mouth," the department said, in a coronavirus update.

  • shop online (rather than in person) and avoid crowds (at malls, etc.)
  • bundle up and move celebrations outdoors (limit the number of close relatives/friends)
  • watch sport events, parades, and movies from home
  • don’t travel during the holidays (travel increases the chance of getting/spreading COVID-19)
