Teaneck Police Help Senior Citizens Stay Safe Driving
Officers partner with Hackensack University Medical Center for CarFit program.

TEANECK, N.J. — The police department teamed up with Hackensack University Medical Center to host the first CarFit Program for senior citizens earlier this month.
CarFit is an educational program that offers older adults the opportunity to check how well their vehicles fit them, the hospital said. The program provides information on local resources that could improve their safety and increase their mobility in Teaneck and the area.
Along with the hospital, Teaneck police partnered with the Woodcliff Lake Police Department and AAA to host the program.

“We were able to better ‘fit’ our senior drivers for maximum comfort and safety in their vehicles. All it takes is a 20-minute assessment to enhance their safety as drivers,” said Meliam Gonzales, injury prevention coordinator with the hospital.
