Teaneck To Purchase 70 Police Body Cameras

State attorney general gives Teaneck Police Department $35,000 to purchase the cameras.

The Teaneck Police Department will receive $35,000 to purchase 70 body cameras for its officers.

The money is part of $2.5 million the state Attorney General’s Office allocated for law enforcement agencies throughout the state to purchase body cameras. The allocations were announced Monday.

“The awards — made with criminal forfeiture funds — will put New Jersey in the forefront in the U.S. in embracing this technology to promote transparency, mutual accountability, and trust between police and the community,” said Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman.

Nine municipal Bergen County police departments, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office received funds to purchase 231 body cameras.
