Teaneck Warns Residents To Secure Outdoor Items Before Nor’easter

TEANECK, NJ — With wind gusts and heavy rain expected this weekend, residents may want to take a look around their yards and secure anything that could blow away.

In a Friday notice, the Township of Teaneck said wind gusts and heavy rain are expected Friday through Sunday. The notice also urged residents to secure outdoor items ahead of the weather.

The township has a particular message for residents celebrating Sukkot: Properly secure or take down sukkahs before the storm. Its accompanying graphic says that could help prevent potential damage to property and the neighborhood.

For other outdoor items, the township asks residents to secure or bring in lawn ornaments, furniture and decorations, along with anything else that could be blown by strong wind gusts.

“Please stay safe and continue to monitor local weather forecasts throughout the weekend for the latest conditions and updates,” the township notice says. A Teaneck Police Department alert carries the same guidance, including a warning not to drive into flooded waters.
