Teaneck's Corner Market Food Pantry Up For $25,000 Grant: How To Vote

TEANECK, NJ — A food pantry in Teaneck is one of the top 200 finalists for a $25,000 grant, with the winners decided by public vote.

The Corner Market Food Pantry, organized by Jewish Family & Children's Services of Northern New Jersey, is one of eight Garden State causes in that top 200.

In 2021, The Corner Market says it saw a 371 percent increase in how many households it served.

"The pantry once served 175-200 households per year," the organization's Neighborhood Assist voting page reads. "In 2021, we served over 940."

"Support from State Farm will have a significant impact on our northern NJ community, enabling JFCS to help 3,700+ clients who rely on us for food assistance. We anticipate that need will not decrease anytime soon."

As Jewish Family and Children's Services notes on the voting page, food insecurity is a complex issue. JFCS began offering clients confidential food pickups and family case management support, the organization said.

"This service has helped several pantry families so far in its pilot phase. As the need remains high, we seek to ensure that we have the resources needed to serve the hundreds of families who rely on us for food, and the growing number who could benefit from case management support."

State Farm is sponsoring 100 grants of $25,000 through its Neighborhood Assist program, according to a news release. Corner Market Food Pantry was one of 4,000 applicants to the program.
