  1. The Bergen County Clerk is mailing sample ballots to voters which will include their polling location.
  2. Active Registered R’s and D’s will automatically be sent a Primary Ballot (they have been mailed).
  3. All Active Undeclared/Unaffiliated and all Inactive R, D and U voters will be sent an application to apply for a Primary Ballot.

  1. Return envelopes for Ballots AND Applications will be postage paid.
  2. Counties must provide at least 5 locations for secure ballot drop boxes. In Bergen, the 6 locations are: ****NOTE the boxes ARE NOT installed as of 6/12.     1. Rutherford – (South Bergen) outside Borough Hall
    2. Hackensack – (South Central Bergen) outside One Bergen County Plaza
    3. Demarest – (Northeast Bergen) outside the police station
    4. Ridgewood – (North Central Bergen) outside Village Hall
    5. Ramsey – (Northwest Bergen) outside the police station
    6. Fort Lee – (East Bergen) outside the police station
  1. The Board of Elections is required to open a minimum of 1 polling place per town (70). We will have 106 in Bergen. At least 1 in each municipality.
  2. Certified Polling Place list must be submitted to the State by June 15th.
  3. We don’t have to worry about the 1,000 ft limitations on polling places. This is suspended.
  4. Each Polling location with have 1 voting machine and 3-4 poll workers.
  5. Polls are open that same times as always – 6AM-8PM
  6. The State and County will be providing PPE, social distancing signage and single use pens to each polling place, along with the usual supplies.
  7. Voting machines are strictly for voters who are blind, physically disabled or illiterate; all other voters will be given a provisional ballot.
  8. Any voter wanting to use the voting machine must fill out a Disability Certificate for Assistance.
  9. The poll worker then calls the Board of Elections to verify the voter HAS NOT sent in their VBM Ballot. Only then can a voter enter the booth to cast a vote.
  10. VBM ballots postmarked by July 7th and received by July 14th will be counted.
  11. Voters cannot deliver VBMs to the polling place or the municipal clerk’s office.
  12. The 3PM Deadline to request a ballot on July 6th is suspended (ie – a voter does not have to go before Judge after 3PM on 7/6.)
  13. The Board of Elections does not need to get a court order on July 7th if we have not finished counting the ballots. We simply come back the next day and continue counting until all ballots are counted.
  14. Provisional ballots can’t even be looked at until July 15th or later – after all VBMs are entered into the SVRS system.
  15. Certification of the election is extended to 15 Days.
  16. Candidates filing for recounts now have 23 days to do so.
