A toddler was among five people who died in a Sunday night car crash along Route 3 in Rutherford, according to multiple reports.

RUTHERFORD, NJ — A toddler was among five people who died in a Sunday night car crash along Route 3 in Rutherford, according to multiple reports.

According to a news release from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, a front loader construction vehicle was entering the roadway from the Route 17 South/Service Road entrance ramp before 11 p.m. While traveling west on Route 3, he was struck from behind by the Nissan Rogue.

At the scene, police found five occupants in the vehicle. Four, Michelle Toledo, 38, Irvina Gee, 20, Sheckylle Chain, 23, and Ayana Navas, 16, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The fifth, Noah Alexander Dejesus, 4, was resuscitated at the scene, according to the release, but was later pronounced dead at Hackensack University Medical Center.

The crash, which shut down Route 3 west and diverted traffic for a number of hours, is still being investigated by Rutherford Police and the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
