Where Do Teaneck Schools Rank In New State Report?

The state released its grades for every New Jersey school. How did Teaneck's rank in 2020?

TEANECK, NJ — Ever wondered how your local schools stack up to others across the state? You’re not alone.

For the third consecutive year, New Jersey released its rating system, which grades schools on a 1-100 scale. According to a recent Patch report from Tom Davis, the 2020 ratings were created to comply with the federal Every Student Succeeds Act.

The system isn’t without its critics, as educators say the scale lacks important context for many of the state’s 2,100 schools.

For example, some say comparing elementary schools on the same scale as high schools is unfair.

High school ratings are based on graduation and absenteeism rates, along with standardized test scores. Elementary and middle school scores are based on absenteeism, standardized test scores and student progress, according to the New Jersey Department on Education.
