Woman Bites Cop During ‘Pink Cocaine’ Arrest, Teaneck Police Say

A woman in a car parked near a Route 95 ramp bit a Teaneck cop, police say. They found a suspected drug mix in the car, they say.

TEANECK, NJ — A woman’s erratic behavior Friday escalated into a confrontation where officers were hit, kicked, and bitten, and drugs were found, police said.

Shortly after midnight, officers arrived at the Glenwood Avenue area in Teaneck, near the Route 95 on/off ramp, to investigate the report of a disturbance inside a car.

Officers were waved down by a man standing outside of a car and found Valeria Valencia in the driver’s seat, police said.

"Ms. Valencia appeared to be in distress and complained of pain," police said. Officers called for an ambulance.

While interacting with Valencia, her behavior became "erratic," police said.

"Specifically, she became aggressive towards officers, who responded by attempting to deescalate the situation," police said.

"At one point during the interaction, officers observed Ms. Valencia grabbing at something she was sitting on and attempting to hide it in her clothing. Officers determined the object was a plastic bag containing a pink powdery substance, believed to be a controlled dangerous substance commonly known as 'tusi' or 'pink cocaine,' a mixture of psychoactive substances typically containing Ketamine and MDMA."

Police said her behavior was consistent with being under the influence of narcotics.

When officers tried to transport Valencia to Holy Name Medical Center for an evaluation, she became combative, police said.

Valencia tried to strike and kick police, landing one kick to an officer’s chest and biting an officer’s finger hard enough to draw blood, police said.

Because the bite caused the officer's blood to come into contact with Valencia's bodily fluids, the officer was treated at the medical center as well, police said.

Valencia was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, throwing bodily fluid at a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and failure to make lawful disposition.

She was taken to the Bergen County Correctional and Rehabilitation Center.
