Woman's Body Found In River Behind Mall In Hackensack

A woman's body was found behind a mall.

A woman's body was found in a river behind a North Jersey mall on Sunday, police said.

The body was found in the Hackensack River behind The Shops at Riverside in Hackensack after police received a call at 10:30 a.m., Hackensack Lt. Darrin DeWitt told nj.com.

An investigation is ongoing, police told nj.com. The body was recovered at 12:20 p.m., Hackensack Lt. Darrin Dewitt told Daily Voice.

Responders including the Hackensack police and fire departments, Oradell Fire Department, Bergenfield Fire Department and the Bergen County Sheriff's Office worked for more than two hours to recover the woman's body, according to Daily Voice.

Emergency personnel in pontoon boats could be seen sweeping the river, according to The Record, and cops from several agencies assembled behind the parking deck at The Shops at Riverside mall.
