' Evening falls '

. Many of our senior and veteran residents may recall their earlier hometown years at times of great national pride and optimism, respect for our leaders, armed services, and cultural heritage. Confidence in our industries, products, educational standards, and social integrity. Loyal commitment to family, friends, traditions, and neighborhood safety. Today however, through maddening, speeding, profound life changes, amazing advances in science, technology, and global awareness, many of our once wholesome cities and towns have arrived as insecure, unstable, unsafe urban centers, engulfed by general chaos and corruption to say the least. And, by this most unfortunate opinion, some of the apparent reasons may be from radical devaluation of community values and cultural dignity, partly due to statistical / demographic changes; a casual indifference to public indecency, vulgarity, wholesale violence, and reckless antisocial behavior; the obsession with narcissism, wasteful consumerism, degenerate public figures, and barbaric sensationalism; a litany of crime related issues such as gangs, drugs, guns, prostitution, robbery, crimes against seniors, DWUI incidents, an assortment of internet scams and fraud; An overwhelmed, struggling system of human services within a void of visionary leadership.
