28 Vehicles Stolen, 120 Burglarized In 2021; Lock Up, Toms River Police Say
Police say thieves are entering vehicles that are left unlocked and stealing ones where the key fob has been left inside.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Toms River police are urging the public to lock their vehicles and take their key fobs with them every time they leave their vehicles because of increasing issues with motor vehicle break-ins and thefts.
"This year to date, we have investigated 28 motor vehicle thefts and over 120 motor vehicle burglaries," police said in a post on the department's Facebook page Tuesday morning.
"We cannot stress this enough: criminals know how to identify easy targets, please lock your vehicles and take your key FOB with you," the post said. "Don’t become the victim of a preventable crime."
