1. 11 Victims Assaulted Back To 2002 By Ex-Fire Chief In Toms River, NJAG Says (patch.com) — Toms River residents are learning more about the state grand jury indictment of former Silverton Volunteer Fire Company chief and ex-Island Heights police officer Robert M. Sinnott Jr., accused of sexually assaulting 11 victims dating back to 2002. Prosecutors say several alleged assaults occurred at Sinnott's Toms River home and the Silverton firehouse, and they are urging anyone with additional information to contact the state tip line as the criminal case proceeds.
   

2. Another failed attempt to lower electric rates in New Jersey (nj1015.com) — Toms River residents are learning more about a deadly Route 9 work-zone crash after Lakehurst resident Douglas Smith pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide in the 2025 death of road worker Allen Adams. Prosecutors say Smith was drunk and high on multiple drugs when he struck Adams in a clearly marked overnight construction area, and the victim's family is now backing tougher penalties for impaired drivers in work zones statewide.
   

3. Police K9 Loki medevaced for emergency surgery at Shore (app.com) — A South Toms River police K9 named Loki is recovering after emergency surgery for a life‑threatening stomach condition, thanks in part to rapid treatment at a Toms River veterinary hospital and a specialized K9 medevac program. Local police and emergency agencies from Toms River and Ocean County coordinated to get him to Red Bank for successful surgery and hoped midweek release.
   

4. Toms River Man Admits $10M Mortgage Fraud Scheme Role (patch.com) — A Toms River resident has admitted in federal court to helping orchestrate a multimillion‑dollar mortgage fraud and fraudulently obtaining about $1.8 million in COVID relief loans, and now faces lengthy prison terms and major financial penalties. He's agreed to pay restitution and forfeit more than $2.3 million, with sentencing set for December in Camden.
   

5. Trading Bases for Miles (jewishlink.news) — A Toms River resident who once could barely run a minute has transformed himself into a 3:26 marathoner by steadily training and shedding 25 pounds. He now logs regular miles on New Jersey's wide-shouldered roads, often at night, and shares simple, encouraging advice for locals who might want to start running from scratch and gradually build toward bigger goals.
