Badges On Sale Now For Ortley Beach, Shelter Cove Beaches, Toms River Pool

Ortley Beach visitors will need badges earlier due to music festival, councilwoman warns

Toms River residents who want to purchase beach badges for the summer will be glad to know that they will not see a price increase.

Instead of increasing the price of badges once the summer season starts, the Toms River Township Council voted recently to keep the season prices flat regardless of when they are purchased.

But they also warned that badges will be checked sooner than most residents have become accustomed to.

Councilwoman Maria Maruca said residents who are used to going onto Ortley Beach without a badge prior to June 15 will need to have badges to get on the beach there the weekend of June 5 and 6 because of the music festival coming to Seaside Heights that weekend.

“We want to be able to control access to the beach,” Maruca said at the council meeting last week. “So you will need your beach badge to get on the beach in Ortley that weekend.”
