Better Health Members Get a Taste of Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus at Mocktail Party

Better Health members were recently invited to a “mocktail” party on the patio at Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus. This members-only event brought together more than 70 attendees from several local senior living communities, including the Renaissance, Four Seasons, Leisure Village East, Leisure Village West, River Pointe and Lake Ridge, as well as seniors who are living independently in Lakewood, Jackson and Forked River.

At the start of the evening, members were invited to enjoy a couple of brief presentations about programs and services offered by Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus (MMCSC). Judy Colorado, Chief Nursing Officer, MMCSC, discussed the Geriatric Emergency Medicine (GEM) and Acute Care for the Elders (ACE) Units as well as the development of the Geriatrics Institute and array of outpatient services. Laura Gallo, Special Projects Manager of Cancer Services, MMCSC, provided an overview of the new services offered at the Jacqueline M. Wilentz Breast Center’s new location.

After the presentations, members had the opportunity to take a brief tour of one of the newly renovated private rooms at the hospital.

Better Health members also enjoyed healthy drinks, such as the “mockarita” and “grapeopolitan,” and a variety of hors d’ oeuvres on the MMCSC patio. The party featured a cooking demonstration from celebrity chef Diane Henderiks, who is well-known for her nutritious and healthy recipes, and served as a social event for Better Health members to experience the hospital’s campus and staff.

Better Health is a free membership program offered to seniors 55 and older who want to improve their health and well-being.
