Brothers Killed In Parkway Crash Laid To Rest Together

Kevin and Jimmy Quispe-Prieto of Beachwood were killed in the Dec. 26 crash that also killed two of their friends.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Funeral services were being held Monday morning for brothers Kevin and Jimmy Quispe-Prieto, who were killed in a crash on the Garden State Parkway the day after Christmas.

Obituaries for the brothers on the Kedz Funeral Home website said only that services were being held Monday, with visitation in the morning leading up to a graveside service at 12:30 p.m. at Ocean County Memorial Park cemetery in Toms River. Both lived in Beachwood, according to the obituaries.

Kevin, 21, and Jimmy, 23, were killed when the Infiniti G37 that Kevin had worked all summer to buy crashed into the back of an oil tanker truck at 2:50 a.m. on Dec. 26 at milepost 81.5 on the southbound side of the Parkway in Toms River, New Jersey State Police said. Victor Lugo, 24, and Robert Ordeñana, 23, both of Lakewood, also were killed in the crash.

Kevin was studying computer science at Wilkes University and had made the dean's list. He also worked at Christian Pools, and co-workers at the pool company had set up a GoFundme to help pay for the funerals of Kevin and Jimmy as well as Lugo and Ordeñana. As of Monday, the GoFundme was at just over $11,000, with a goal of $50,000. (Click here to donate.)

"Kevin was so shy but once he was comfortable around you he was the funniest person you’d ever meet," one friend wrote on the GoFundme page. "Jimmy was always smiling and having a good time. Two beautiful souls gone too soon."

Lugo's funeral procession carried his casket past the Lakewood public works department, where he had worked, where dozens of friends and co-workers gathered to pay their respects, the Asbury Park Press reported. He was a 2013 graduate of Lakewood High School, where he played baseball, and had taken the civil service test to become a police officer like his stepfather, who serves in the Lakewood Police Department.

New Jersey State Trooper Alejandro Goez on Monday said the crash remains under investigation.
