Instructor: Joseph Rogine
These classes are designed for both beginning to advanced students who want to sharpen their skills in drawing. I have taught students for over 25 years who have never picked up a pencil to draw to those who have been quite advanced.
It is an academic course, (academic being defined as that which can be taught). Drawings are created by copying master drawings, simple to complex still-life objects and classical plaster casts. The student usually begins by copying a master drawing that is supplied to them.
All students start out using graphite pencils with grades of 2H HB 2B. The capabilities and limitations of drawing materials and drawing instruments are discussed at length along with their proper handling. Classes are essentially about learning how to see nature and the world as an artist sees it, through the language and medium of drawing.
The student’s eye will gradually become trained and sensitive on how to compose a layout on the page, assessing proportion, elementary perspective, gauge angles, identify shapes, access the degree of curvature of forms, locate hidden movements and linear rhythms, the structure and modeling of form and the study of light and shade. This opens a whole new world towards a visual literacy that was very common in school curricula 100 to 150 years ago.
Depending on a students’ progress and particular interest repeat students are free to experiment with various drawing mediums like charcoal, pastel pencil, pen and ink etc., along with the drawing surfaces applicable to their chosen medium. <a href="https://www.ocartistsguild.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Joe-Rogine-supply-list-2023.pdf" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Joseph Rogine supply list 2024.</a>

Discover the beauty of painting on unexpected surfaces in this playful mixed-media workshop with Leona Lavone – “Artsy Art Bucket.”
Instead of traditional watercolor paper or canvas, students will create a unique painting on decorative wallpaper. The subtle patterns and textures of wallpaper provide an inspiring background that adds depth, interest, and spontaneity to your artwork.
Using acrylic paint, collage elements, and drawing materials, we will explore layering techniques that allow the wallpaper design to peek through the painting. Students can create florals, abstract designs, whimsical imagery, or anything that inspires them.
This workshop is perfect for artists who enjoy experimenting with and discovering new ways to combine paint and mixed media.
No experience necessary—just come ready to play and explore!

The mansion will be filled with live piano music, and self-guided tours are available with every visit. The seating times are 11 AM and 3:00 PM every weekend in May. 
The cost is $50 per person, $20 for children 12 and under, and children five and under are free with an adult. Seniors and military are $10 off mid-week. Mid-week seating times begin at 11 AM and are held every hour on the hour until 4 PM.

The all new Cape May Renaissance Faire brings the days of yore and times of wonder to Cape May.

Hear ye, Hear ye! Prepare to step back in time as the Cape May Renaissance Faire announces its grand opening, and transforms the Cape May County 4-H Fairgrounds into a bustling festival, May 2 &amp; 3, 2026. The new event promises immersive and whimsical fun, fantasy, music, crafts, food and drink; providing a unique escape for families and the young at heart.&nbsp;

The Cape May Renaissance Faire aims to bring the rich traditions of medieval-era entertainment to the local community, blending historical flair with fantastical fun. My training exercises have some basic elements; I customize this framework to your dog's way of learning desired behaviors. I avoid aversive training techniques like choke or shock collars. The best deal I offer is a 5 cue (command) package for $400. Payment schedule is taylored to fit your budget, cash, personal check or Venmo. I do not accept credit cards. My own dog Thor, I rescued from hoarders with over 180 dogs kept in horrific conditions. I love my 68 lbs guy who thinks he's a lap dog. May is the month for "Mom's" at the Mathis House Tearoom. The Mother's Day Victorian Afternoon Tea is available daily from Tuesday to Sunday. Mid-week seating starts at 11 AM, and teatimes are held by reservation every hour on the hour, with the last seating at 3 PM. Weekend seating times are 11 AM and 3 PM. The Victorian Afternoon Tea includes a choice of soup, a seasonal salad, a warm scone with clotted cream, lemon curd, and preserves, a variety of five tea sandwiches, and a plate of petite desserts with a pot of gourmet tea per person. The cost is $50 (plus tax and gratuity) for adults, $20 for children 12 years old and under, and free for children 5 and under with an adult. The mid-week cost is $40 per person (plus tax and gratuity). Seniors and the military receive a 10% discount.
