Can You Help Shelter Solve This Dog Mystery?

His tags say he's Murphy and lived in Toms River, but his former owners have died. He was found in Old Bridge. Do you know where he belongs?

The Old Bridge Animal Shelter has a mystery on its hands and they are hoping someone can help.

A dog, who was found Friday, Nov. 3 in Old Bridge, arrived at the shelter wearing a chain collar and a 2015 rabies tag from Toms River.

"After a little investigating it was determined the dog's name is Murphy and he's 10 years old. He was owned by Lisa and Bob Mack of Toms River who both passed away, in 2015 and 2016 respectively," the Old Bridge shelter officials wrote in a post on Facebook. "All phone numbers associated with the rabies tag have been disconnected."

The couple have a son named Bobby Mack, the post said.

"We are assuming whoever had this dog since 2016 is looking for him," the post said. "If anyone knows Bobby or whoever may have been caring for this dog since 2016, please contact the OBAS at 732-721-5600, ext. 6300."
