Caregiver Canines Article Shout out

That's the way you'll feel after reading Helaina Hovitz's article on CVCJ's Caregiver Canine Program. She emphasizes how a visit from a pet therapy dog trully alters a person's mood, and helps stave off loneliness, a huge problem for seniors.

Below is a quote from Ms. Hovitz's article from CVCJ's Executive director Lynette Whiteman, reguarding the mission of Caregiver Canines:

“They would go off to find pictures of dogs they had and start talking about them,” said Whiteman. “I thought, ‘There are therapy dogs brought into nursing homes, so why don’t we bring them into peoples’ homes?’”

She decided that shouldn’t stop them from being able to have regular visits to look forward to, bringing them not only happiness, but a number of the therapeutic benefits." (Hovitz)
