Cattus Island Park Fire Quickly Extinguished In Toms River
Smoke from the fire caught the attention of a spotter with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, who called in East Dover firefighters.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — Firefighters extinguished a fire Saturday at Cattus Island County Park that started in what authorities called "a known hang-out location."
East Dover Fire Company posted photos on its Facebook page early Sunday of the fire.
It was first spotted by a New Jersey Forest Fire Service warden in a fire tower, who then called Toms River firefighters, the post said. East Dover Fire Chief Timothy Zieser arrived and found an area of woods on fire in a known hang-out location within the wooded area, the Facebook post said.

Two East Dover fire units, one to supply water, responded, along with New Jersey Forest Fire Service units and an air tanker, the post said.
The fire is under investigation by the Ocean County Fire Marshal, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, the Toms River Police Department and New Jersey Forest Fire Service.
