Students from around New Jersey will participate in the program Thursday and Friday in Ortley Beach and at Island Beach State Park.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — An estimated 170 students, teachers and volunteers are expected to arrive in Toms River later this week for the ninth annual Clean Communities Environmental Student Exchange.
The event, Thursday, March 23 and Friday, March 24, sponsored by the New Jersey Clean Communities Council, will include cleanups and demonstrations along Ortley Beach, and a trash hunt and lunch at Cattus Island.
The organization said the focus of the event will be roundtable discussions, which will take place at a hotel in Toms River. Students have researched topics and prepared presentations and "will work together to create new and innovative solutions to issues related to litter and solid waste," the New Jersey Clean Communities Council said.
