Community Medical Center Invites Public to ‘Test Drive’ da Vinci Surgical Robot

Hands-on demonstrations of da Vinci surgical system to be offered at Robotic Surgery Open House.

Toms River, NJ, October 21, 2016 – Community Medical Center’s dedication to providing patients with access to state-of-the-art technology began nine years ago, when the hospital, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, introduced robotic-assisted surgery to Ocean County. They have built upon that promise by introducing a second robot, the da Vinci Xi, which features the latest in cutting-edge technology, to its surgical program.

Community Medical Center will hold a Robotic Surgery Open House on Tuesday, November 1, 8 am – 3 pm, where guests will be able to ‘test drive’ a da Vinci robot. This event is open to the public and will take place in Community Medical Center’s Outpatient Lobby. Attendees will be able to learn more about the latest robotic-assisted technology now available for use in surgical procedures at Community Medical Center, and surgeons and staff will be on hand to answer questions. No registration is required for this free event.

Surgeons at Community Medical Center have been performing robotic surgery since 2008, making them among the most experienced robotic-assisted surgeons in the region. The da Vinci Surgical Systems is designed to help surgeons perform minimally invasive surgery through the control of specialized instruments and a miniaturized camera, resulting in shorter recovery times, less risk of infection and less pain for patients. Surgical expertise is available at Community Medical Center in gynecologic oncology, gynecology, colon surgery, general surgery for hernia and gall bladder procedures, and urologic for prostatectomies.
