Dogs and the Elderly - A Perfect Combination

Local nonprofit Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey highlighted in national web site highlighting their home based therapy dog program.

For dog lovers, it's a no-brainer - having a dog is good for you mind, body and soul. Ocean and Monmouth Counties nonprofit agency Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey (CVCJ) is highlighted in the latest edition of Next Avenue, which is an on-line national publication in an article about Pets and Senior Health.

Caregiver Canines® is a home-based visiting therapy dog program that matches certified pet therapy dogs with homebound elderly for weekly visits. These visits have proven to provide health benefits through a research study conducted by Kean University and published in a nursing journal.
