Donovan Catholic's Wilson Sets National Outdoor Shot Put Record
She is now the first high school girl to break 57 feet in the shot put both indoors and outdoors.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Alyssa Wilson, the Donovan Catholic throwing star, has added another national record to her pile of accomplishments, the school district said Monday.
Wilson, throwing at the Ocean County Championships, broke the national high school outdoor record in the shot put, throwing 57 feet, 1.25 inches. The throw broke the national outdoor record of 56-8.25 set by Raven Saunders in 2014.
Wilson, who has been racking up accolade after accolade in this, her senior season, had set the national indoor mark in the shot in late February, throwing 57 feet, 5 inches at the Eastern States Championships in New York. She is now the only high school girl to throw the shot over 57 feet both indoor and outdoor, according to NJ Mile Split. She then won the shot put title at the Penn Relays, setting a meet recrod of 53 feet, 7 inches and earning the title of High School Girls Athlete of the Meet for Individual Events.
