Downtown Toms River Trolley Starts Rolling Saturday
The trolley will travel from parking areas to the downtown shops, businesses and the library and will run through Labor Day.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Toms River visitors will have a new way to get around the downtown area, as the Downtown Trolley begins service.
The trolley, promoted by the Downtown Toms River Business Improvement District and contracted through Great American Trolley of Cape May, will begin service on Saturday and run though Labor Day, Sept. 3.
The free-to-ride service will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends, Downtown Toms River officials said in a news release.

The initial stops are as follows:
- Toms River Park and Ride Bus Terminal near the GSP on Highland Parkway
- Toms River Center at the intersection Main St. and Rt. 37 (Kohls, the Office Lounge, etc.)
- Town Hall/Library on Washington Street
- Ocean County Parking Garage/Historical Society on Hadley Avenue
- Huddy Park lot on Water Street
- Main Street at the corner of Water Street
- Irons Street free parking lot

The stops will be outfitted with temporary signage until the route has been established and tested for efficiency. Riders are permitted to request to deboard the trolley along its route where it is safe and legal to do so. The driver will also be equipped with a hands-free device so that riders can call to find out where the trolley is located at a given time.
Though the trolley is beginning operation on Saturday, there will be a kickoff part at Huddy Park from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday June 2, featuring live entertainment by Katfish Lucy and the Music Academy, food trucks, games, and a beer and wine garden provided by Toms River Volunteer Fire Company 1.
