The school's principal urged parents to remind their children to speak up if they see something concerning.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Extra police officers were on hand Thursday morning at West Dover Elementary School after a social media incident involving a student Wednesday night that sparked concerns.

A message from West Dover Elementary School Principal Shannon Brown to families of the school's students on Wednesday evening said extra police would be on hand in the morning after "a situation that arose on social media" involving a student at the kindergarten-through-fifth grade school.

Brown's message did not detail the incident but said law enforcement had been notified and responded, and that extra officers would be at the school in the morning.
