Find Support, Info At Autism Resources Fair At Ocean County Library

The Ocean County Library is hosting its annual Autism Resources Fair, with information sessions and activities for children of all ages.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Families affected by autism can learn about resources and support available to them at the Ocean County Library's annual Autism Resources Fair on Saturday, April 15.

The fair will be held at the library's main branch in Toms River, at 101 Washington St., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There will be 40 groups, including medical professionals, therapists, advocates, schools, and other agencies on hand. The list of organizations can be found here.

The library's Sensory Space, on the second floor, will be available to provide opportunities for calm for those who become overwhelmed by too many people or too many stimuli. There are bean bag chairs, and LED lightsto watch slowly change, an LED light color-changing waterfall, and much more to help relieve anxiety.

There will be information sessions, including The Developmental Model of Autism Care for Children, Teens, and Families: the What, Where, How, When, and Why, Preparing for Emergencies, and ABA Therapy: an Overview.

The Toms River Township mobile sensory activation trailer will be on hand as well as another resource for those who need a calming space.
