GARDEN STATE PHILHARMONIC ANNOUNCES 61ST SEASON

Garden State Philharmonic The Jersey Shore's premiere professional orchestra new season concert dates

Music speaks to each of us in unique ways. The Garden State Philharmonic is following up a successful 60th anniversary year with another dynamic year of fine music that will explore the very best in orchestral music from the vantage point of unique messages and experiences. Kicking off the Garden State Philharmonic’s 61st Season (2016 – 2017) will be a concert devoted to celebrating the essence of America’s Band Master – John Philip Sousa – on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the Jay and Linda Grunin Center for the Arts at Ocean County College in Toms River. Better known as “The March King”, Sousa travelled the US presenting concerts with great popular appeal. Borrowing a page from the Maestro’s book, the Garden State Philharmonic will present a Sunday afternoon concert worthy of the “Village Green” festively titled Sousa-pa-looza. A wide variety of music from the popular to the classic will be included. The remainder of the season will feature exciting compositions presented to set the mood for Halloween; examine what made Mozart the go to option for inspirational and sublimely beautiful music; and Beethoven the legendary figure he became for classical music. Independent of the professional orchestra’s four-concert series, the Philharmonic will again be joining the GSP Chorus for Messiah and More and the Atlantic City Ballet for The Nutcracker in December, and, partnering with New York’s Ardea Arts in March 2017 for the world premiere of Animal Tales! The Garden State Philharmonic’s 61st season promises something for everyone. Full-price tickets range from $12 to $48, with reduced fixed rates for senior citizens, students, and groups of 10 or more. For those who appreciate locking in additional savings, pre-season subscription packages will continue to be available through September 1st rewarding buyers with a 10% discount off standard ticket rates. For senior citizens living in adult communities throughout Ocean County ask about the GSP’s ConcertRide Transportation program when calling. The Professional Orchestra Series is sponsored, in part, by Investors Bank and the Investors Foundation. ConcertRide, and the premiere of Animal Tales, will be supported, in part, by additional support from OceanFirstFoundation. Call (732) 255-0460 or visit GardenStatePhilharmonic.org for tickets.
