A troop of Girl Scouts from Toms River is seeking the public's votes to win a trip to Medieval Times.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — How many Girl Scout cookies does it take to win a trip to Medieval Times?
Approximately 27,300 cookies — give or take a Thin Mint.
That's how many were contained in the 125 cases of cookies Girl Scout Troop 60810 of Toms River used to build its Cookie Castle to compete for tickets to Medieval Times, which is holding a contest through Friday.

The castle that receives the most votes wins by 11:59 p.m. Friday wins a group trip to one of the castles for an evening of knights, princesses, jousting and dinner.
Jacquie Caswell, the leader of the Daisy and Brownie troop, said the troop decided to enter the contest when they found it by accident while researching possible ways to spend the money they collect from their cookie sales this year.

"We don't have to spend the money if we win the tickets, we said," Caswell said.
They gathered all the cardboard boxes from the cases that held the cookies — 125 cases, a total of 1,500 boxes of cookies — and spent an afternoon constructing their castle, Caswell said.
"They had drawn up plans ahead of time," she said, so the contruction of the castle by the 14 troop members and parents took about two hours.
